Our School: A Brief Overview

Established in 1999, Little Tree is a peaceful and inviting environment where children thrive. Why do they thrive? Because their natural drive toward independence and self-development is supported, and
learning through playing and "working" is pleasurable and satisfying!
Nestled in a beautiful forest, with trails and a large play yard, we begin and end most days playing outdoors. Inside, children gather to look at books and have circle, then pursue their individual interests during what we call our "work time."

During work time there is a busy hum of focused activity.
Children move about freely and choose what they want to do (including snack)
from a wide variety of interesting subjects and materials.

The child's choice is respected,
and we avoid interrupting anyone concentrating on their work.
Concentration is such a beautiful thing!
A sense of inner calm and self-confidence, as well as mastery, develops as
a child engages with an activity for as long as they like.
